Here is a photo of my little CHIA patch that I am growing in my DUO kit.
I did not know how close to plant the seedlings and on seeing how the plant grow I could have planted them much closer, but as the photo shows they are doing well.

For those who do not know about CHIA....it is a very good source for Omega3 and is supposed to be a wonderful health food.

My interest is to grow it as feed for my Jade Perch

Here is a link for CHIA seed.

How come you can put in 800x600 images and it resizes ours to a maximum of 400 pixels deep?
Can you change the setting in your attachment algorithm to 800 X 600 instead of 800 x 400?

    Cheers IanK

    Hi Ian,
I have just adjusted the size permissions for the following file extensions to max 800x600 pixals.
It will take a bit more server storage space, so we will see how it works out.

You say you are growing it the the silver perch, but surely they only want the leaves, and you want the seed, yes. Seems the seeds are what is good for you. But I guess you would need to plant a hectre of it for that

    Hi Murray,

I went and got some Chia with vegefish, yesterday,

Left my lot at his place, told him to plant it in his garden, I'll get some more in the next couple of days.

How far apart do you think I should plant it in my AP beds?

Have you had any of it yet?

    Cheers.

    Hi Bigdaddy,
It is long gone. The fish do not like it. Has some component in the leaves that make it bitter, needs cooking. The real value is in the seeds.
I will grow some more soon to experiment with.
I am interested in finding things that I can feed to the Jades, especially plants that are high in Omega 3.
It grew easily in the gravel grow bed, went to seed and I collected seeds, so that part is fine. Lovely purple flower on the bush.

    I will keep you posted.

    Hi Murray,

How far apart do you think I should plant mine in my gravel beds, yes the flower looks lovely, and indeed the plant.

I might try it(the seeds)in some salads and meals if I can grow it sucessfully.

    Cheers.

    Hi Bigdaddy,
It can be planted very close, like 25mm apart. You will need an awful lot of it to recover a meaningful amount of seed.
