Seen below in the photo are flowers on the Pawpaw tree growing in my Aquaponics system.
Very exciting……hope the flowers set and deliver fruit.

What variety is that Pawpaw Murray?
Hi John, It is one of those red varities. I will find out and let you know.
Is it one of those bisexual varieties?
Hi Nuggett,
The ticket that came with it as a seedling just says
Red PawPaw. Fast growing, upright to 4 metres, with large lobed leaves, bearing orange-red elongated fruit. Fruit will be produced without cross pollination.
Hey Murray – Wont that Paw Paw tree need some support eventually? I wonder if the grow bed can support its root mass or if the tree will topple over? Amazing what fish poop can do isn’t it.
Hi Frank,
It may need support. It is a good thing we have it in a standard 300mm deep grow bed, actually in hind sight I should have planted it in a deeper one just to make sure.
It has actually set fruit now, so waiting to see just how good the fruit turns out.
We have two Pawpaw trees in our garden (not in an Aquaponics system but in dirt!). The one half a metre away from the chicken coop is fruiting tremendously. The other one is 3 metres away and is yet to flower. I’d say the chicken manure might have something to do with it. Keep updating the photos Murray of this system – it’ll be interesting to see how it develops.
