I have a really great duckweed supply. My front dam has been empty for the last 7 or 8 years and since the great rain we have had this summer it has come back to life.
I noticed some very small patches of duckweed growing on it a few weeks ago. It is now completely covered.
I will start harvesting it and freeze it down into small blocks for later food. The jade perch will love it.
Here is an additional photo of the water reservoir for my QUAD system. This tank automatically tops up the QUAD system when required.
I pump dam water for top ups and it is not very clean, I have added the water lilies.
They clean up the water in just a few days. The tannin and other impurities are gone.
I also added about 10 small pieces of duckweed to the tank a couple of weeks ago. It has multiplied well.
There are small fish in this tank as well. Little unknown fish. They must have traveled all the way through the pump to get there….what a ride that must have been !!!!
There are two different varieties of duckweed in the dam and the top-up tank.
